A culture of violence could be one of the reasons why more suspects die in police custody in Kwazulu-Natal than in other provinces. This according to David Bruce, a senior researcher at the Centre for the Study of Violence and Reconciliation. In a new report, Bruce said that fatal shootings of suspects by the police in KZN had increased by 162 percent in the past three years.
